Scott Tetlow

Scott Tetlow is a British artist whose expressive drawings and paintings are infused with movement, precision, and emotional depth. Born in Rochdale in 1969, Scott’s passion for art began early — sketching punks and designing album covers as a teenager, eventually earning a place at Cheltenham University to study Fine Art.

After a devastating studio fire in 2002, Scott stepped away from his creative practice and turned to teaching. It wasn’t until nearly a decade later, while living above an art shop in Verona, that his passion was reignited. Surrounded by the beauty of the city’s architecture, he picked up his brushes once more — and hasn’t stopped painting since.

Scott’s work is heavily influenced by his time studying calligraphy in Taiwan. That experience reshaped his approach, grounding his practice in line, rhythm, and energy. Every mark is considered, fluid, and filled with life — an extension of movement and mood. His drawings are not layered or corrected; they’re created in one breath, with a confidence born from years of study and instinct.

Now working from his garden studio in the UK, Scott creates figures and forms that feel alive — each line charged with energy and emotion.

"Each line must have life. Once I begin, I can’t hesitate or look back — every mark flows from me in one breath. That’s how I capture movement and soul."
