Nicky Chubb
Whatever the subject, Nicky Chubb’s work is rooted in optimism — each piece is created to evoke feelings of hope and happiness. The trees surrounding her countryside home provide endless inspiration; observing them through the seasons brings a sense of belonging and quiet joy that she strives to reflect in her paintings.
Originally trained in Fashion Design at Central St Martins (BA Hons, 1993), Nicky’s love of textiles continues to influence her work through vibrant colour, layered texture and intricate pattern. Since 2012, she has become known for her distinctive tree and floral paintings, which are exhibited widely across the UK and Europe and collected internationally — from Japan to Australia and the Cayman Islands.
Alongside her landscapes, Nicky has a lifelong interest in the human figure. Working exclusively from life, she uses mixed media — collage, ink and paint — to capture fleeting moments and shifting light. Her floral works also evolve from this process, often recycling old drawings and papers into something new and sustainable.
Nicky is a member of the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society, London’s largest life drawing group, and runs her own life drawing sessions in Hindhead, Surrey. In 2022, she was accepted as a member of Surrey Hills Enterprises and awarded their Trade Mark for local provenance, quality and sustainability.
