Tatia Starkey
Tatia Starkey native to the UK, spending half her life in London and the other half travelling around the planet, absorbing the life of musicians, and then becoming one herself. She began painting from an image she had connected with almost 20 years ago. A couple sprawled out on a canvas, intertwined and soaked in paint. She isn’t following in the footsteps of any artists whilst she straddles the impressive take on making art whilst also becoming the finished piece of art itself. An unusual yet ravishing concept see’s Tatia, firstly, using a methodical Jackson Pollock approach onto the canvas. Laying the foundation for her to place her naked body onto the paint. There are many different ways this is executed, sometimes in lust, sometimes in anger, sometimes in pure joy. The body is an instrument of expression, and the feelings are injected and translated onto the canvas through colour and texture, leaving her body wrapped in acrylic paint. This lends itself to the beautiful photographic imagery she has taken, showing the progression of mixed media and how we as humans are living art every day.
