Light breaks spectacularly through an expansive, cloud-filled sky in Nigel Smith’s Look to the Sky. Soft blues, silvery greys and luminous whites contrast beautifully with the rich greens and earthy tones of the landscape below. There is an almost ethereal quality to the painting, with Nigel’s expressive marks and textured surface capturing the drama of shifting weather and the extraordinary light that can emerge between the clouds. Powerful yet uplifting, this is a piece that draws the eye upwards and gives a wonderful feeling of space.
