Katarzyna Szelest is a mixed media artist whose work radiates depth, colour, and texture. Originally drawn to the natural world through photography, Katarzyna began her creative journey capturing landscapes and details through a lens. It was during her studies in Digital Photography at the University of West London that she became fascinated by the artistic potential of image-making.

In 2020, with the world at a standstill, painting became her refuge — a way to process the chaos and reconnect with creativity. What began as an escape soon evolved into a passion. She embraced mixed media, experimenting with iridescent and metallic paints to create richly layered, expressive works.

Katarzyna is largely self-taught, learning through practical experience, courses, and mentorship from international artists such as Kristin Oksavik and Ginger Thomas. Working primarily in acrylics, she builds up luminous compositions that shift and shimmer with the light. Her paintings often balance sweeping scenery with intricate foreground detail, offering a dynamic interplay between distance and intimacy.
