Stuart Storey

Originally trained as a Mechanical Engineer, Stuart spent over 25 years building a successful career in the consumer goods industry, working across a wide range of sectors from household brands to food production, and ultimately becoming CEO of a cheese business.

In 2020, he embraced a significant career shift, choosing to refocus his working life around creativity, curiosity, and the pursuits he is most passionate about. He now enjoys a portfolio career as an artist and as a freelance cycling guide — a balance he describes as both energising and deeply fulfilling.

Based at his home studio in Hampton Hill, he lives with his wife, two children, and their dog. The surrounding landscape — with the Royal Parks, the River Thames, and the proximity of London — provides constant inspiration for his work.

A passionate cyclist and outdoor enthusiast, movement, journey, and perspective play a central role in his art. Working primarily in acrylics, he is drawn to bold, vibrant colour palettes and dynamic compositions, often inviting the viewer to travel through the painting and experience shifting viewpoints along the way.

He is proud to be the Official Artist and Friend of the Fred Whitton Challenge, a role that reflects both his love of cycling and his connection to endurance, landscape, and human endeavour.

"Much of my work is inspired by time spent outdoors — cycling through landscapes, noticing light, rhythm, and how perspective constantly shifts as you move."
