Simon Wright
A contemporary British artist renowned for his dynamic equestrian paintings that capture the excitement, energy and spectacle of horse racing. Recently appointed Artist in Residence at Royal Ascot 2026, Simon has become celebrated for his ability to translate the movement and emotion of the racecourse onto canvas.
Drawing from a lifelong passion for art, Simon studied illustration before moving into fine art, where he found the freedom to develop his own distinctive style. Working primarily in oils and acrylics, he combines expressive brushwork with bold colour and confident mark-making to create paintings that are rich in atmosphere and movement.
Royal Ascot has long been one of Simon’s favourite subjects. Inspired by its vibrant colours, grand traditions and unique sense of occasion, he seeks to capture not only the horses themselves but the feeling of the event. His paintings focus on the speed, power and unpredictability of racing, creating impressionistic scenes that place the viewer in the heart of the action.
Alongside his celebrated equestrian work, Simon also paints contemporary cityscapes and architectural scenes, applying the same energy and expressive style that have earned him a loyal following among collectors across the UK.
